What are the types of gypsum boards?
  • Fire and moisture-resistant gypsum board:
    Red gypsum: For kitchens
Green gypsum: For bathrooms and laundry rooms
This type contains silicone and fiberglass, covered with green reinforced cardboard on both sides and green adhesive. It is used in highly humid areas like bathrooms and kitchens and is the best and most expensive type of gypsum board.
  • Regular gypsum board:
It is covered with white cardboard on one side and gray on the other, with blue side adhesive. It is used anywhere except in humid areas like bathrooms and kitchens.
  • Fire-resistant gypsum board:
Similar to regular gypsum board but with red adhesive. It is used for walls.
How is gypsum board installed?
  • Gypsum boards are installed using a metal framework consisting of angle, omega, and C pieces, with a thickness of 4 mm.
  • Angles are fixed to the walls, followed by C and omega pieces to create a flat surface. Gypsum boards are then fixed onto this surface with screws.
  • After installation, the boards are joined using filler paste.
  • The paste is sanded electrically to ensure a smooth surface with no irregularities.
  • The boards are then coated with a water-based primer and can be treated again with filler paste if needed to fix surface imperfections.
  • Finally, one or two coats of plastic paint in the desired color are applied for an aesthetic finish.
